Through the centuries many qualities and meanings have enhanced gems, rocks, minerals and other geological formations.  We have mentioned of few of these enhancements in our Stone Definitions.  As more come to our attention we will update these pages.  The healing properties of stones is intriquing and hopeful though not an answer to medical science.  Our mention of these properties is for fun only.

		Amber Amber encourages the body to heal itself by absorbing negative energy and turning it into positive energy.  Its bright and soothing energy helps to calm thenerves and enliven the disposition.  It is used as a symbol for renewal of marriage vows and to assure promises.  It brings good luck to warriors.   Sacred to the Native Americans and the Eastern Indians, amber has been used in the fire ceremonies of ancient tribal leaders and was burned in Medieval days as a fumigant and incense to clear the environment of negativity.  It cleanses the environment and is an excellent mineral for use in purifying birthing rooms.

		Carnelian (Sard) This is an excellent grounding stone that has high energy, restores vitality and motivation and stimulates creativity.  It helps one to accept the cycle of like and removes the fear of death.  It was used to protect the dead on their journey to the afterlife.  It has long been used in the carving of magical amulets.  Throughout the East, Carnelian is said to deliver the wearer from the tricks of the devil and the envious and that the wearer of this stone would have all their desires gratified.  Placed near the front door, this stone invokes protection and invites abundance into the home.  Carnelian is also one of the stones in the High Priest’s breastplate as mentioned in the Book of Exodus, verse 27 where is called odem and associated with tribe of Reuben.   Carnelian helps improve analytic abilities and sharpens perception.  It dispels mental lethargy and protects against envy, rage and resentment.  Red Carnelian especially warms and energizes as well as being useful in combating sluggishness and invigorating the mind and body.  Interested in the theater?  This stone assists in theatrical and dramatic pursuits.   Used in healing or influencing female reproductive organs and increasing fertility.  It is very good against arthritis, neuralgia and depression in older people.  Carnelian can accelerate the healing of bones and ligaments as well as staunching the flow of blood.  It helps improve vitamin and mineral absorption as well as ensuring an adequate supply of blood to organs and tissues.  This stone is also said to protect against injury from falling houses or walls.  It cleanses negative energy from other stones.   Its Zodiac signs are Taurus, Cancer and Leo.

		Coral Coral represents diplomacy and concurrence and is supposed to quiet the emotions and to bring peace inside oneself.  This stone from the sea facilitates intuition, imagination and visualization.  It helps one understand and use the qualities of the mystic.   Coral can be used to strengthen the circulatory system and the bones of the body.  It stimulates tissue regeneration and is used to nourish the blood cells.  Used also in the treatment of disorders in the spinal canal, alimentary canal, the nervous system and the thalamus.   Red coral helps harmonize the natural forces of the universe with ones own internal forces.  It protects against depression and despondency.   Red coral is used to treat hiccups, colic, and heartburn.  It is also good in treating disorders of the cellular structure of the kidneys, bladder and parathyroid.   This is an excellent stone to still tempests and the help traverse broad rivers in safety.  It also staunches the flow of blood from a wound, cures madness, and imparts wisdom.   This is an elemental stone that is associated with the Zodiac sign of Pisces.  Each color is also tied to other Zodiac signs; ie red coral is Libra.

		Jasper Jasper is associated with the zodiac sign of Libra, Aries and Pisces. Red jasper is associated with Aries. Jasper is thought to prolong sexual pleasure, increase fertility, combat exhaustion and aid in healing headaches. Used today to bring problems to the forefront for solution, it was thought by ancient Native Americans to have the power to bring rain.   In the Old Testament, jasper is described as the first stone of the foundation of the New Jerusalem. In the 4th century it was used to drive away evil spirits and the Middle Ages identified it as a warrior stone. Many cultures attribute it with the power to heal snakebites. Jasper is also used as a shield for positive outcomes.
